Cast Iron Tea Kettle
Since the earliest days of casting, iron has been used to produce various articles including cookware. Over the years, the products have become more refined as better methods of casting and moulding iron were invented. Cast tea iron kettles were first used to heat water for beverages as it had good thermal conducting properties.
Cast iron tea kettles were moulded and used for a long time for heating water. Later on, the process of enameling cast iron products was invented by the founders of Le Creuset. This enabled manufactures to further upgrade the quality of a cast iron tea kettle. Nowadays, cast iron kettles are usually enameled on the exterior or interior to give them protection from the elements. Some manufacturers still produce tea kettles without the enamel layer. But, with the advent of other materials used to manufacture different articles, the use of cast iron has become much less. Cast iron objects are heavy and get corroded over prolonged use.
Brands like Rosseto, Old Dutch and STAUB manufacture cast iron tea kettle with or without enameling. They come in different colours and designs. The price varies from model to model and generally something can be found to suit everyone’s needs as necessary.
