Antique Tea Kettle
With a long history of drinking tea, it was natural that people would turn to collecting antique teapots. From collecting their grandmother’s teapots to going through garage sales and searching online, the avid collectors of these unique articles apply every method known to them to acquire one. It can become a symbol of achievement for a collector or just something nostalgic to an amateur.
An antique tea kettle can be one which was manufactured a couple of centuries or more before. Thus the novelty factor of the kettle increases a lot. These kettles can be made of pewter, brass, porcelain, etc. Kettles from the Georgian period and before are generally considered antique tea kettles.
Vintage kettles, on the other hand are not necessarily as old as the antique ones. The difference lies in the design of the kettle. A vintage tea kettle is more likely to have a unique design which was not common even when it was made. Thus, kettles from early 20th century can be called vintage too.
Vintage and antique kettles form a large part of collections as they are very uncommon and cannot be reproduced. There is a huge demand for these kettles among the like-minded. Unfortunately, this has given rise to an underground market dealing in these products.
